Digital Tools for ELL Students

The focus of Professional Learning Community this school year was to integrate digital tools into the core curriculum of our ELL students. The intent was to provide digital tools to aid our ELL students inweb-tools.png learning a new language.

We started our project by creating a survey to be sent out to our ELL teachers in our building. The results guided us in our search for digital tools. The primary need appeared to be for students to be able to record their voices reading passages so they can then make the appropriate changes. Secondly, the ELL students needed to increase their academic language: test vocabulary, subject verb agreement, and sentence structures.

Each member chose a class or grade level to focus their work. Working with the class room teacher they created a project with each student using one of two digital tools.
